Conclusion

The VPS delivered mixed results in our speed tests. While data input/output (I/O) speeds fluctuated, averaging 14.3 MB/s, internet speeds impressed in most locations. For instance, the Amsterdam connection was quick, with less than 1.30 ms latency. However, long-distance spots like Tokyo showed limitations, with download speeds dropping to single digits.

Digging deeper with the Yabs performance test, the server flexed its capabilities, especially when dealing with larger data blocks. The reading and writing speeds blasted past several gigabytes per second, showing that this server can handle intense data tasks. Geekbench and UnixBench scores revealed its strong CPU performance, comfortably handling many simultaneous processes.

It wasn’t all smooth sailing, though; the VPS struggled to unlock certain media content. While services like Amazon Prime Video and Disney+ were accessible, Netflix limited its offering to originals, and other platforms like HotStar and Spotify was out of reach.

To wrap it up, Host Mayo’s Netherlands-based VPS shows promise, particularly for data-heavy workloads, with its high processing power and top-notch network speeds in Europe. It’s less adapted for global operations requiring consistent high-speed connectivity or for using a media server to access a full range of international content.
