UpCloud Finland Helsinki AMD EPYC 7543 General Purpose Cloud Servers Test and Review
This time, we’re putting the UpCloud Finland Helsinki General Purpose Cloud Servers to the test. This server uses an AMD EPYC 7543 32-core Processor. It has a 2-core CPU, 4 GB of RAM, 80 GB of SSD Storage, a 1 Gbps internet port, and 4 TB of data transmission capacity. It also has 1 IPv4 and 1 IPv6 address.
We’ll dive into several different evaluations. Firstly, we’ll conduct the Basic Benchmark, Yabs, and Unix Benchmark tests to measure important server metrics. The Global Node Test will allow us to assess the server’s network reach and quality. We’ll also use the Global Ping Test to measure the delay in communication, known as latency.
Furthermore, we’ll run the Media Unlock Test to check how accessible the server is from various regions. The CloudFlare Internet Test will help us understand the quality of the internet connection. Lastly, we will use tools like PageSpeed Insights and GTmetrix Performance to test how fast web pages load and perform.
About UpCloud
UpCloud is a cloud service provider offering high-performance and resilient cloud servers with no upfront costs or commitments. Here’s a detailed introduction:
Cloud Servers UpCloud’s Cloud Servers are designed to be fast, flexible, and full of possibilities. They come in three distinct varieties: General Purpose, High CPU, and High Memory. Each configuration plan provides top-of-the-line performance with emphasis on different requirements.
General Purpose Plans These offer balanced sets of allocated CPU cores, RAM, MaxIOPS storage, and a monthly quota of outbound network transfer suitable for most use cases. They are ideal for users who need a balanced distribution of resources.
High CPU Plans High CPU plans are ideal for higher computational needs while being price-competitive. They offer resources with more CPU cores for users needing more computational power.
High Memory Plans High Memory plans provide more system memory for memory-intensive workloads. They are perfect for users who need more RAM for their applications.
Performance UpCloud’s Cloud Servers are powered by enterprise-grade CPUs and enhanced by their in-house developed MaxIOPS storage technology. This ensures high and consistent performance across all plans.
Scalability Users can start quickly and easily with the resources they need, then scale up in just a couple of clicks as their business grows. There’s no need to overprovision services as users can easily change between plans and plan types to scale as required.
Resilience Multiple redundancies eliminate any single point of failure with the capacity to mitigate issues following failure or attack with automated restarts to recover with minimal interruption.
Security UpCloud maintains the highest level of security by keeping the latest security updates and strict access control at their physical locations. This ensures that cloud services are kept safe and secure.

Conclusion
We conducted the Basic Bench test and found the server to have an impressive average I/O speed of 390.3 MB/s. The upload and download speeds varied greatly depending on the location, ranging from 364.52 Mbps to the striking 999.01 Mbps for downloads and from a mere 0.47 Mbps to almost complete 998.16 Mbps for uploads. The latencies also depended on the location, ranging from 0.50 ms to 335.09 ms.
The server performed well in the Yabs Performance Bench test with the Mixed Reading/Writing rate of 745.25 MB/s and 757.36 MB/s for 64k and 1m block sizes, respectively. Meanwhile, the Geekbench 6 Benchmark Test gave a Single-Core score of 1330 and a Multi-Core score of 2358.
During the UnixBench test, the server demonstrated its strongest performance, with the System Benchmarks Index Scores of 1989.6 and 2809.6. These high scores indicate the machine’s remarkable capacity for various operations such as data processing, file copying, and process creation.
In conclusion, the UpCloud Helsinki Server boasts potent performance metrics, fast internet speeds, and decent access to streaming services. It fared well across a range of standard tests, suggesting it would be a reliable choice for those who require strong server capabilities. However, its restriction on some popular media platforms may be a drawback for some users. Nevertheless, the overall results remain quite impressive.
