CrownCloud USA Los Angeles Premium SSD Powered KVM VPS Test and Review

Our recently tested the CrownCloud USA Los Angeles VPS, which boasts a high-speed solid-state drive and runs on a powerful Intel Xeon processor. Its specs include a 4-core CPU, 4GB of RAM, 100GB of SSD storage, a fast 1Gbps internet connection, 2TB of data transfer allowance, and IPv4 and IPv6 addresses.

We started with some standard benchmarks – Basic, Yabs, and Unix – to see how well it handles common tasks. Then, we tested its network performance worldwide and checked how quickly it could respond to pings from different locations.

To see if it could stream media from various regions, we performed a Media Unlock Test. We also used tools like PageSpeed Insights and GTmetrix to evaluate how quickly websites would run on this server.

About CrownCloud

CrownCloud is a leading provider of web hosting services, offering various solutions, including VPSes, dedicated servers, and colocation services across the United States and Europe. One of their standout offerings is the Premium SSD Powered KVM VPS, designed to cater to businesses and individuals requiring high-performance virtual private servers.

The 12th Generation Intel Core i9 12900K processors power the Premium SSD Powered KVM VPS. This ensures super-fast disk access, making it perfect for running intensive applications requiring much computing power. SSDs (Solid State Drives) in these VPSes provide faster data access than traditional hard drives. This results in improved performance and efficiency, which can be crucial for businesses that rely on speed and reliability.

CrownCloud’s Premium SSD Powered KVM VPS is available in various locations, including Los Angeles, USA; Atlanta, USA; Miami, USA; Frankfurt, DE; and Amsterdam, NL. This geographical diversity allows users to choose a server location closest to their target audience, reducing latency and improving the user experience.

One of the key features of CrownCloud’s service is the control panel for reboots, reinstalls, snapshots, etc. This gives users full control over their VPS, allowing them to manage their servers effectively. Additionally, each plan has 1 dedicated IPv4 and IPv6 Subnet, and rDNS support is included for IPv4 and IPv6.

CrownCloud uses enterprise-grade hardware and data centers, ensuring high stability and reliability. They also use hardware RAID arrays for data preservation, providing an extra layer of data security. All nodes have a 1 Gbit/sec uplink for fast data transfer.

CrownCloud USA Los Angeles Premium SSD Powered KVM VPS Test and Review

CrownCloud’s VPS Admin Control Panel, or CrownPanel, is a proprietary tool designed to provide users comprehensive control over their virtual private servers (VPS). It’s a user-friendly interface that allows you to manage your VPS with ease and efficiency.

One of the key features of CrownPanel is its power control functionality. You can start, shut down, or reboot your VPS with a single click. This eliminates the need to wait for a support ticket to handle these requests, providing you with immediate control over your server.

CrownPanel also offers snapshot capabilities. You can create, restore, or destroy snapshots anytime with a single click. This feature is particularly useful for data backup and recovery, allowing you to restore snapshots on other VPSes under your account.

In addition to these, CrownPanel supports SSH keys. You can manage, add, and remove SSH keys, which can be inserted into your VPS via the panel for quicker access. This feature enhances the security of your server by enabling secure shell (SSH) access.

CrownPanel also includes a one-click operating system reinstall feature. This is especially useful when testing new software or requiring quick and easy reinstalls.

Conclusion

Initial tests focused on disk I/O speed, with results ranging from 160 MB/s to 601 MB/s, averaging 426.7 MB/s—a respectable figure. Network performance also took center stage, with upload and download speeds tested across global points. Speedtest.net showed promising results with speeds nearing the gigabit mark and latency as low as 0.42 ms. However, variability was observed in India and China, where speeds decreased significantly.

Further analyses were made with the Yabs Performance and UnixBench benchmarks. The CrownCloud server showed impressive disk speeds, handling mixed read/write operations up to 3.89 GB/s depending on block size. CPU tests demonstrated the server’s raw power, operating with high scores in multitasking and processing abilities. For instance, the Dhrystone 2 and Whetstone benchmarks put the server’s performance well above the standard baseline.

In the arena of media services, this server managed some regional restrictions, offering access to platforms like Dazn, YouTube Premium, and Amazon Prime Video in the US market. Despite that, some services, such as Disney+ and HotStar, were inaccessible, limiting the server’s potential for delivering a full spectrum of multimedia content.

In summary, the CrownCloud USA Los Angeles VPS demonstrates robust processing and network capabilities performance, especially within the United States. While its ability to circumvent region locks on media is somewhat mixed, it provides a solid foundation for web hosting and server tasks with rapid data processing and transmission. This server is well-suited for businesses seeking a reliable and powerful hosting solution, particularly for US-based operations or with their main user base near Los Angeles.
