We appreciate Hivelocity for providing us with a server to conduct our testing. This round, we will test Hivelocity’s Shared vCPU VPS Server in Los Angeles, United States. Powered by an Intel Xeon Processor (Cascadelake), the server boasts impressive specifications: 8 CPU cores, 16GB RAM, 320GB SSD storage alongside a 1 Gbps internet port. It provides 10TB of traffic and holds 1x IPv4 and 1x IPv6 address.

Our detailed analysis involves conducting a series of comprehensive tests. Beginning with essential metrics, we employ the Basic Benchmark, Yabs, and Unix Benchmark tests. Network coverage is meticulously assessed with the Global Node Test, while latency is precisely evaluated via the Global Ping Test.

To determine regional accessibility, we launched the Media Unlock Test. We assess connection quality using the CloudFlare Internet Test and proceed to evaluate web performance through the double check of PageSpeed Insights and GTmetrix Performance. These exhaustive evaluations are designed to provide deep and robust insights into the server’s overall performance.

The Basic Bench test offered insights into I/O speed and network latency. With an average I/O speed of 341.0 MB/s and impressive upload and download speeds in different locations, Hivelocity’s server displayed strong performance in data handling and network connectivity. The server maintained decent speed even for distant nodes like Paris or Tokyo, although the performance in Hong Kong was notably lower.

The Yabs Performance Bench depicted mixed reading and writing speeds. Results manifested good Speed with an aggregated I/O of 872.35 MB/s in 64k block tests and 938.74 MB/s in 1m block tests. Moving on to the Geekbench test, the server’s single and multi-core scores were 1072 and 4907, respectively, symbolizing proficient processing power.

The UnixBench test assessed the server’s CPU performance. Running both single and multiple parallel tests, the server indicated impressive scores. Index scores soared at 1330.2 in the single parallel copy test and a massive 4771.2 when conducting 8 parallel copies, underlining robust multi-core handling capacity.
